Travelling by car and will be staying in Split for 2 days, Hvar for 2 days, Sveti Stefan (Montenegro) for 2 days, and Dubrovnik for 2 days. I have an extra day to add to one of these places and am thinking of Montenegro (because the long drive to get there will eat away at our two days there). But then I just read a post from a traveller in Montenegro that couldn't wait to get back to Croatia. Any thoughts?

I'm gonna be around Split and Dubrovnik in early September and gonna do a bit of island hopping. I wanted to get the lowdown on the hows and wheres of getting about via scooter. Bear in mind that I have never been on one before.

Is it a good method of seeing the islands?
Where do you usually hire them from?
Is there a lot of traffic on the roads?
Is it worth it?
Is it easy to pick up having never ridden on one before?

i'll be starting my eastern european adventure on the 1st of september and my first stop is croatia but i just dont know where to go first. im living in amsterdam and will be flying from here.. id like to catch some sun and culture and make my way to serbia or montenegro (well both but not sure which first)

can anyone suggest where i should start. i know this might sound like a lame question but i just cant decide.

also i want to get a cheap flight- and i cant find any of the cheaper airlines that…

I'll be travelling alone in the Balkans in August and may stay in Croatia for a while. I've 2 curiosities:
- Is there any gay spot / city / island in Croatia???
- Where are the best islands to go? I've the feeling that Hvar is one of the best one but looks very touristic!? Is there any chill out, a bit more hippie island for young people...and not that fashion / commercial...???

hi!i was thinking of going to croatia for three weeks.can anyone who has gone give me an idea of how expensive it is to travel there and around.i was told by a croatian friend that is amazing.thanks.

i'm from canada, and would never consider camping with no tent because of bugs.
however, i hear august is mad hot (living in the UK now, so i could do with some heat!). on top of that, my man is a walking furnace.

will we be eaten alive if we just camp out with blankets?

also, if we're visiting the national parks, or anywhere else, can we camp wild? not keen on being crammed into a mass of shrieking kids. (nothing against kids having fun, just don't want to be surrounded by it at 6am!)

My girlfriend and I are flying into Zadar airport 1st September for 7 days. Would anyone kindly advise us of where to stay or visit?
Is Zadar a good place to stay or is it treated more as a place people travel through?

We are mainly looking just for a relaxing holiday with places to explore and good beaches (I heard a rumour that the beaches are pebbled-is this true?)

Any help would be very appreciated.
