We are travelling to Croatia in April for 2 months with our children and dog. All in a caravan. Has anyone travelled in Croatia with a dog. Are we going to be very restricted in what we can do or where we can go? We would like to visit the national parks, some islands and cities, plus beaches.

Where are you travelling from?
Where are you travelling back to after the trip?
Going across Europe overland to Croatia with a dog should be incident free as long as you have all the necessary paperwork. I've travelled thru Europe, including Croatia, with my dog on a motorhome with no problems whatsoever. However you need to travel with all the required documentation..
Passport, chip no., jab evidence etc.
The chances are the border guards won't be in the slightest bit interested in your dog, but nevertheless you must still have all its papers.
I'll answer more once you've answered the other questions.

Travelling from uk and returning to uk. Not worried about getting to Croatia, more about how much we can/cannot do once there with a dog. For example, are dogs allowed in national parks or on beaches, in restaurants etc.

Well, my dog swam in the sea, walked the beaches & ran in the parks unleashed without incident. Careful for the 1000's of wild dogs out there, they attack without warning & at night roam in packs.
We never attempted to enter a restaurant with him tho. Then again, we hardly ever ate in restaurants either.
Are you OK with all the required paperwork your dog needs to travel legally? Without it he/she won't be allowed to re-enter back into the UK.

He has a passport and according to our vet that is all he requires (with rabies, microchip) for way out and on return he needs to be wormed and deflead before entering uk.

You got it, although your vet's de-fleaing thing is new to me.
Have a great trip!

There are many beaches with the clear sign DOG' s beach in many coastal areas (5800 km of the coast including islands in Croatia). U can go to bars n many restaurants, hotels have marking pet friendly.
So many places where u can swim or just enjoy the crystal clear water with you dog too. In national parks like Plitvice lakes , Mljet and Krka waterfalls you can enter with ur dog too. Send the email to other parks that u want to go to check direct with them.
