Hi all,

I will be visiting Croatie with my family next year, and I would like to know what would be a good itinerary for us. We are with a group of around 10 people, age ranging from 6 - 60, and we we would like to spend time at a nice beach for relaxing and snorkelling and diving, but I would also love to visit a National Park. As we are with a large group we would prefer to stay at one place only and visit a National Park by day tour.

I would like to get an idea on which place would be best to stay, and which NP to visit in this week.
Any advice is very much appreciated!

Hi,
That is quite a large varied group but from my own touring around there I would suggest heading to the Istrian Peninsula in the north of Croatia. The scenery is really nice, the towns are well able to cater for tourists but are also very historical. They are all quite Roman and have superb harbours etc. Nice places to browse around. Towns like Pula, Rovinj and Porec are all really nice. In any of the towns there is good snorkling on the beaches. A National park in Istria is Brijuni or you could head to the island of Crveni Otok. But my suggestion if you could organise the logistics would be to head to Plitvice Lakes which is a few hours east. It is probably the most famous NP in Croatia with great walks as well as great views of the lakes and waterfalls. You can chose how much to walk yourself. It is about a 2.25hr drive from Rijeka and Im sure most hotels or tour operators would do day trips.
From my time there I wrote about what I found good in the various places from my own experience including details, costs etc that may be of help to you including what I mentioned above

I hope this helps you
