My wife & I are spending a week in Croatia in July/August. We would like to see Dubrovnik, like everyone does! But we'd love to see Plitvice National Park. I just don't don't know how long to spend in each place etc. Also if anyone knows of any hidden gems I'd love to know.

Cheers

Dubrovnik: a full day;
Plitvice: a day if you have some walking endurance and are there early, or split in two half days.

Hidden gems?
Not really hidden but a nice surprise just north of Plitvice: http://slunj-rastoke.com/?lang=en

It will be easier offer more suggestions if we know your place of arrival and departure, have you decided yet?

And what are your interests? Do you want to spend some time on an island?
Personally, I enjoyed Zadar, Split and the capital, Zagreb. But that would not be everybody's selection.

Hidden gems? Again as #1 says not many. But Trogir, near Split is worth the effort. But hardly a 'hidde gem'.

We will be coming to Croatia from Hungary so I assume we will arrive in Zagreb.

I love just walking around and looking at beautiful sights; whether nature or beautiful old buildings etc.

But we both love just finding nice quiet cafes and watching the world go by and soaking the place in.

I know that Croatia has some beautiful coastline and it would be great to get some relaxing time in a nice resort or something like that. The sticking point is the price though. As we are on a RTW trip we can exactly splurge in any one place. Unless its pretty reasonable.

Ok, so as much as spam is kinda un-cool on Thorn Tree I had a look at that link. It does look like an awesome way to see the Croatian coast. But as I said price is a bit of a sticking point. $2000AUD each for a week is a bit much for us, we've been surviving on a 1/4 of that a week for both of us.

I know I won't get a cruise for that cheap; but if anyone does know a good company that isn't too pricey please let me know. Or if LQC charter wants to give me an awesome super discount we could use them :P
