Croatia is fast becoming the hotspot in Europe and September is the perfect time to go. Usually during the holiday season (June to late August) tourists get a bad deal, prices are often inflated and beaches often packed. Furthermore, the sea temperature in September will be the optimum for the year as will the climate, providing you don't mind the odd thunderstorm. If you are considering Istria (Rovinj, Pula etc.) then that is a good choice as there are plenty of places to camp and one called Polaris is just outside of Rovinj with all facilities and no need to pre-book. As for nightlife, well depends upon your adventurous side..if you speak to a person in a Information office (there is one at the bus station) you may be able to go to Red Island where the parties often happen at weekends. You can also get a hydrofoil to Venice.
If you are into natural beauty then beaches around this region are really gorgeous (beware of the naturalist resorts) and you may find one for yourself. Bike and moped hire is cheap too.

Best clubbing destination in croatia are pag (novalja, zrce) & Hvar. Clabbing on pag is on big & long beach zrce where you have 3-4 big clubs & few smaller ones. They work 0-24, party is also all day. Visitors are 15-30 years old, around 70%(smaller every year) are croats from all croatia rest of people are italians, germans, french, some americans and surroundings countries. There are few clubs in city Novalja. Its truth that theres not much for sites seeing, but it is a beautiful island whit many nice beaches ( it is almost without vegetation only stone on one side). If you are there you must taste their sheep cheese & grilled lamb. If you gone go to Dubrovnik it is on your way. (search web for "zrce")
Hvar is island near Split whit lots of sites seeing and clubbing but as opposed to pag it is much expansive and elite. Town of Hvar is beautiful as island, most popular club is carpe diem.(http://www.carpe-diem-hvar.com)
