Heading for Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro next week.

Decided to include an overnight trip from Split to Plitvice lakes and would like to know which exit you would need to find people with rooms to hire? How easy is this to do and is there an accomodation agency if all else fails? Approx price for just myself? I've also heard their isn't a bus stop to go back to Split and have to flag the bus down, is this still true?

Tried to get Bosnian currency and was told that you cannot get them and to take Euros!! Had the same problem being told to me about Lithuania until I persisted so am reluctant to believe it. Can anyone shed light on this?

there's a campground just north of Plitvice listed in the lonely planet. just tell the bus driver to drop you off there (camp has shuttles to park). on the highway by the park is the info center and the bus stop for Split is right there. the info center also has a place you can store your bag, if needed.
FYI - there are day tours to Plitvice from Split if transport gets complicated

ya, it might be hard to get Bosnian currency outside of Bosnia. i seem to remember being stuck with the currency once i left the country too (no one would exchange it).

The Bosnian currency is somewhat ironically referred to as the "convertible" mark, it is almost impossible to convert it outside Bosnia! I'm not surprised you couldn't get hold of any.

You don't say where you were trying to get the currency or what your home currency is. Naturally you can get Bosnian marks from ATMs in the country. If you already have euros it makes sense to take them, once in Bosnia you can easily change them into Bosnian marks at a fixed rate, or even use them to pay for quite a few things. And of course you will be using euros in Montenegro. But it might not be worthwhile changing a large amount of another currency into euros in order to change them again into Bosnian marks.

As #1 said, try to get rid of any Bosnian marks before leaving.

Thanks Swoosh. I have mobility problems so wouldn't be able to stay in the campground but good to know about the shuttle and bus stop. I'll try very hard to spend all my cash!
