Hi everyone,

Sorry to ask another question about Mljet. What I am wondering is - has anyone done a day tour to Mljet from Dubrovnik or Korcula? I get the impression that to do a day trip independently is difficult. So I was wondering if the day tours are worthwhile.

Thanks
M

I have not, but at the old harbor in old town, you will see lines and kiosks for the tours--some for Mljet and some for the Elafiti Islands. You'd want to ask them how long you get on the island, what kind of transport options are available once you get there (i.e., bus or bike), etc. Weigh it with how long you will spend on the boat out there. You also want to know where you get dropped off--I think the natl park is at the opposite end of Sobra.

An alternative is to hop over to Lokrum. I am sure it does not compare to Mljet, but it is a nice respite from the crowds and heat in Dubrovnik. There are wooded paths, a botanical garden, and rocky beach access.

But I see you really want to go to Mljet without staying 2 nights there (from Dubrovnik)! Maybe you could go Dbv-Sobra Sobra-Prapratno, then you would need to get to Ston from Prapratno to try to catch the bus coming from Dubrovnik to Korcula. Risky, but certainly possible!
