Hi all , We are wanting to have a quick break for 3 full days on either Vis or Hvar Island while we are traveling around the Mediterranean for 6 weeks. We are doing a small ship cruise for 7 days from Dubrovnik to Split and so we would have briefly visited both islands and would be getting there via a Ferry from Split.
Our ideal place would be a classic Croatian waterfront township with cafes and promenades and close proximity to a swimming beach to chill out . We are thinking of doing a day trip to either "The Blue Cave" or to a Pakleni Island. We would just love to soak up the ambience and history of a beautiful Croatian Island , in a relaxing but vibrant place.
Accommodation wise - we would prefer a guest house , would be fantastic if it had a sea view balcony and our budget is sort of 3 star( Euro 60-80 ish ) .
Do either Islands hire scooters for just a day?
We are a couple , late 40's that love culture, history , cafes, beaches and wine!
Thanx in advance (-:

Why not do both? Base yourself in Hvar and from there take the daily tour to the 3 caves. The following day Pakleni Islands. Try to include Korcula Island too. There is a town beach in Hvar city between the 2 boat harbors beside the Franciscan Church. It's crowded in midsummer but the water is clean and no speedboats. The photo looks like it was taken in Autumn or Spring or even in winter when no-one is swimming.
