Hi
My partner and I are travelling to Hvar and Dubrovnik in August and I was wondering if anyone could suggest some accommodation ideas?
Ideally we'd like an apartment in Hvar (mid range) and then either hotel room/apartment in Dubrovnik.
I was planning to stay near the centre in both spots, however if you think other areas are better then happy to look at these too.

The last time I was in Dubrovnik was in May, 2004. However, the place we stayed was fantastic and very reasonable. I couldn't recommend it more. It was outside of Dubrovnik (in Cavtat), but had very easy public transit access to the main city. Cavtat itself was also really beautiful. The scenery was so nice that my husband proposed to me there.

In July of 2006 my boyfriend and I stayed at the Apartments Peric in Dubrovnik for 9 days.
I can't recommend this place enough. The room we rented was very clean and bright, and had an amazing view and private balcony overlooking the old town and sea. The home is located in the Ploce area, which is situated just outside and above the old town Dubrovnik. It is quite a hike uphill from the old town but we got used to it quickly. There are a few apartments and rooms for rent - we rented just a room and it was plenty big enough for two people (it came with a private bath).
The gentleman who owns the home, Bozidar, was very friendly and helped us with renting a car to drive to Bosnia, and calling a taxi to the airport. He gave us lots of ideas for day trips as well, and spoke very good English.
The rates were very reasonable. Our vacation was wonderful and we enjoyed staying here very much.
