My family and I are planning to spend 3 nights in Split, 2 in Hvar, and one in Dubrovnik. We want to take day trips. We also wanted to stay in an apt versus a hotel. Any suggestions? It seems like the bus might work but not sure how long they really take to get around.

Split - Hvar - Korcula - Dubrovnik: during the summer months, boats or catamarans may be the better solution. All depends on your travel dates.

Thats what I was thinking if we just want to do day trips is a car the best. We are planning on the end of August first of Sept.

It's perfectly possible to take your car on board of the Starigrad ferry for your day trip to Hvar. May be it would be wise to book ahead.
