Hello!

My aunt and I will be traveling to Croatia from July 28-Aug 7. We are currently flying into Split and are leaving from Dubrovnik on the 7th. I am trying to develop an itinerary and want to fit some time in Istria--particularly Buzet--into it. It would be nice to have a bit of both green and blue Croatia, and I'd like to fill our stay with as little transport time as possible.

Can anyone suggest a route that would get us through Split-Istria-Dubrovnik in this time frame? We are open to all options of transportation and we wouldn't mind stopping on the way from one place to another. Are there ferry routes that would take us from Split to coastal Istria, perhaps with stops at island(s) along the way? And from Istria/Split to Dubrovnik, what is the best route?

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Ayla

I haven't been to Istria, but allow me to make a suggestion. You may find what you are looking for somewhere inland between Split and Dubrovnik, saving you from having to work in long travel times in high season. This may also help you escape the crowds.
Specifically, I would look into Imotski and Sinj, places I'd like to see if I ever drag myself away from the islands.
Outside Croatia, you might consider Hercegovina.

To answer your question, the ferry goes straight from Split to Rijeka.
