Hi there, on our last visit to Hvar we noticed it was hard to find good spots serving great food made
from local products (which are amazing), as Hvar seems to party to the Pizza and Party crowd, whist
being surrounded with seas and amazing fruits and veggies.. is there any good slow food type places
on the island to recommend? We found one small gem in behind the wharf in one of the little hidden
stairs...we will have a scooter, so Jelsa, and Milna are up also ...not just Hvar town.

I don't consider us foodies , but interested beyond just Pizza, Burger, pasta...

love hvar

It's been years since I was there, but I do distinctly remember there being a slow food restaurant (with a snail on the sign actually). Also, Konoba Menego, a neat little place you climb a ladder to get into, had a great platter of cheese, prsut, etc.

Yeah that is the one we have been to, but has there been anything added on the island

?

It seems food is quite formulaic in Croatia, found the offerings in Zagreb to be better than actually on all
the gorgeous islands and coast...whilst driving through we were stunned by the amazing fields and produce
offered like Bee Pollen, Honey, Fruits, etc. , but the Restaurants seem to go for Pizza and Pasta and Burger all the time.

I agree it can be somewhat formulaic (fishpotatoblitva), but the seafood is extraordinary.

Yep, i agree..whilst the formula is nice, there is so much more that the ingredients Croatia has to offer can be done with , I mean there is so many ways to do calamari besides the simple grilling, different marinades
etc.

i'll check out the links,

thanks
