Hi all,

I'll be visiting croatia and bosnia in a couple of weeks and plan to take the ferry from Split to Korcula and have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help with. It appears that I can book the ferry for Jul 27th online from home before getting there - is this necessary or can you turn up as a deck passenger and get on? It's a daytime trip and choices for us (a family of three) are either get a 4 person berth or travel as deck passengers. It looks like a 6 hour trip - how comfortable is traveling as a deck passenger on this ferry?

I'd rather take the faster cats but can't find where to book these online. How far in advance can you get tickets for these in Split? - we arrive on Jul 24th and intend to go to Korcula on Jul 27th.

buy your txts for catamaran upon your arrival in Split.
As per ferries, in general, it is enough to show up as deck passengers for ferry, no need to book a cabin for travel during the day; at night ferries have spatious salons to sit, read, pass time.

The catamaran service leaves Split in the afternoon, and you'll have to buy tickets on the day of travel from one of the agencies in the town. As #1 says, if you decide on the ferry don't book a cabin (unless someone in the family is ill). Buy deck tickets, and board early to stake out a good spot in one of the salons or coffee bars. If the route includes a stop at Hvar, expect 75 per cent of passengers to get off there.
