I am starting to plan a family trip to Croatia in July.

The idea is something like (over 14 days)

  • Dubrovnik - 2days
  • Day trip Montenegro
  • Poss trip to Mostar
  • Slow road trip to Split
  • Split 2 days
  • Boat trip (ok for 2 adults and 2 teenagers - 16 & 14 - good swimmers) via some of the islands 6 days
  • Fly back from Dubovnik - London

(or do in reverse)

Does this sound do-able / too ambitious? Are there any key things I am overlooking? Family like history, watersports, wildlife etc

Do you know any good boat companies that take families (ie not 20s in a party boat?) that you could recommend?

Hi Nick,
Have you found a solution to your program?
You can do it like this:

Day 1. arrival transfer in Dubrovnik
2. regular day tour to Montenegro
3. regular day trip to Mostar
4. train/transfer to Split/tour
5. visit Plitvice lakes
6.-12 boat
7. Durbovnik
8. departure transfer

Note that this is just an idea, you need to find a cruise that leaves from Split and arrives in Dubrovnik.

There are Island hopping programs that include the cities you wish to see, so perhaps this is a better alternative.

Let me know if I can help you further.
The Adriatic is very beautiful.

Thanks Silvia - this looks really interesting. I need to look into Island Hopping a lot more. Thanks for taking the time, Nick

Thoughts on whether Mostar is a worthwhile day trip anyone?
