We are planning to go to the Dalmatian coast middle of September next year. Will it be quieter at this time of the year and would you be able to easily find accommodation (apartment) in Dubrovnik without booking?...

Yes it will be quieter in September. We were in Dubrovnik and on Havr in mid/late September of this year and it's definitely the end of the season. Bars/restaurants/beach clubs shut or beginning to shut. That can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. Some in our group were disappointed in the night life options during this time but we enjoyed the quiet! We found a couple great places to stay through Airbnb. Enjoy.

Dubrovnik has a huge selection of private-owned apartments. Look through Booking.com or Airbnb, you won't have a problem in September.
