I'm planning on taking a ferry from Dubrovnik up to Split and was wondering if these ferries have lockers? I'd prefer to just buy a deck ticket because I'm a cheap punk and I have no issue with uncomfortable places - but I'm more concerned regarding luggage security.

What about the 'couchettes'? Or do I have to shell out for a cabin to get any kind of security?

Thanks

You just chuck your rucksack in a corner and ask someone to watch it when you go to the toilet, keeping all valuables on you of course. They're not huge ferries and everyone's on holiday so its not full of mass-murderers and there's little chance of someone nicking your dirty washing.

When I backpacked around the world I had a Cable Lock which is strong and lightweight. I used it on Overnight trains attaching my bag to the bed/chair. It also works as a regular padlock and cost under £10

Obviously this wouldn't stop someone going into your bag but it means an opportunist can't just run off with it all, but as the above post said the chances of anything happening are slim
