hi

Myself and my boyfriend are going to Croatia on 12th July for 1 week

We were thinking of flying into Split at midday and driving to the KRKA National Park. Is this doable in a saturday afternoon without booking an excursion?
Then drive from KRKA to BRAC and stay in BRAC that night - camping - any good campsites? Or should we stay in Sibnik as its close to Krka and then drive onto Brac the next day??

The from Brac to Dubrovnik via Markarska to camp somewhere near to Dubrovnik or stay in the city? Any advise?

Next day ferry to Mljet and stay over night - preferably camping - any ideas for accomodation?

Next day Hvar and stay over night -prerably camping - any ideas for accomodation ?

Then back to split for 1 day and overnight - any ideas for accomodation

Hope someone can help us????

Hello!

Your plan made me dizzy...you made it too complicated and you'll be too exhausted with travel. 7 days is not enough for your plan. And you're just making it longer with going back and forth.

I'd advise you this:
First, from Split-Krka. You can do it in one day. But there is no point to driving all the way back to Split just to go to ferry and sleep over one night on Brač and next day drive with ferry back to Split...so can you skip Brač? You can go straight from Krka to Makarska riviera and camp there.

(but if you insist, you go Krka-Split-Brač and in the morning back to Split and continue to Makarska or Dubrovnik. Also, you can continue from Brač to Hvar and then go back to Split so you don't have to return to Hvar later...)

Then continue to Dubrovnik, stay there a bit, and then have a trip to Mljet.

Then you come back to Dubrovnik and catch a ferry that takes you to Hvar. And from Hvar you take ferry back to Split (if there's where you catch plane)

I think you could find all info by googling but ok, here are some sites:

Here's website with all camps (for islands)
http://www.camping-guide-croatia.com/index.html

More guides
http://www.findcroatia.com/
http://www.find-croatia.com/ (not sure which one is better)

and hostels for bigger cities

Good luck!

Greetings,
My husband and I were in Croatia May 17 - June 2, 2008. We did not camp, but used private accomodations for our lodging.
I agree that your itinerary looks way too packed for 7 days -- I suggest that you prioritize and thin your schedule.
We loved the islands and wished we had planned more time for that part of our trip. We did go to Brac and stayed in Bol. There were several compgrounds in and around Bol that looked very nice. From there we headed to Dubrovnik, but we did not go back to Split, We took a different ferry from the eastern end of Brac over to the mainland which saved time.
In Dubrovnik we stayed in a private room at the end of town near the bus station -- reasonable price and the public bus system is very convenient for getting to the walled city.
Have a wonderful trip -- wish I could go back today!!
