Hi everyone, I am planning on coming to Croatia for a couple of weeks next May - how is May weather/travel wise? Should I wait until June? I really want to avoid the crowds but I also want nice weather along the coast and interior.

Thanks!
JoEllen

May is a good time for sightseeing. The high season is July-August. The top spots(like Dubrovnik, Plitvice waterfalls,) are already crowded in May, but not as much as in summer.

The weather is totally unpredictable. May is likely less hotter than June, but it could be the other way. Rain is totally unpredicatble. Sea is too cool to swim in May, maybe in June as well, depending on the weather.

Thank you for the response! I feel better about going in May now (which is much easier for me to do with my job)

May is a good time to visit it.
No need to wait until June.

Croatia in May is beautiful! The sea can be a bit cold for swimming but weather for everything else is perfect!

May is perfect temperaturewise, usually with many sunny days. Like other have said the sea will still not be warm enough to swim, except perhaps in the Southern part of Dalmatia. Do expect seeing many schoold kids - it's the time when they go to their school excursions.
