Does anyone know if there is a bus from Dubrovnik to Ploce? (Is Ploce worth spending any time in?) I want to take the train from Ploce to Mostar (the bus took 6 hours last time) anyone got any comments on this journey?
Is there a ferry onwards from Ploce to Split?

There are quite a few buses from Dubrovnik to Ploce. It is on the main road between Split and Dubrovnik and I think all buses between those cities should stop there - I would guess about 2 hours or a bit more after leaving Dubrovnik, but I'm not sure of that. One of the two daily trains leaves Ploce at the inconvenient time of 06.05, so I guess you're more likely to go for the 17.00 departure.
I've only passed through on the bus, but from what I could see Ploce looked like a fairly grim port/industrial place - I haven't heard that there is anything to see there.
The bus shouldn't normally take 6 hours to Mostar, I've done it a couple of times and it was less than 4 hours. The train is pleasant enough but personally I wouldn't bother fiddling with connections given that you have to take the bus half way anyway. The really spectactular part of the train trip is the bit between Mostar and Sarajevo rather than Ploce to Mostar.

agree with all that, in summertime buses along coast ev 30 mins or so. DIRECT bus Dub-Mos runs inland=hence quikcer. Plo is just a station+port and nothing else, dont spend more as needed to change (if really wanted) there.
as BOTH POL+split are along the main coastal road, bus is the way. check jadrolinija times for the actual stops the alongthecoast boat makes, these vary by season and day, but I dont recall ever to have seen PLO listed in them.
