Hello All,

I am interested in Diving Sipadan. I will be flying from Manila on Oct 30th to Borneo and need to be back in Manila on the 7th.

  1. What is the easiest place to arrive and dive Sipadan from Manila? How do I get there? What's the easiest way to return to Manila?

I'm not really on a tight budget, I want to save time and have a bit of comfort.

  1. What's a good resort to stay at that is close to Sipadan that will allow me to only dive Sipadan? I'm not interested in diving…

I just want to warn you to avoid operator: Unrealdive from Cape Town/Simons Town. Our story:
We were going to Cape Town this August, mainly to do cage-diving. After looking through websites of tour operators and exchanging some e-mails we had chosen the firm Unreal Dive http://www.unrealdive.com/. We had fixed exact date (20.08) and paid money in advance. After arriving to Cape Town we contacted Unrealdive to arrange details. The day before cage diving we got sms that due to bad weather we…

Hi! I´m taking a two week holiday to the Sinai Peninsula around Christmas. Will land in Sharm. From what I´ve understood Dahab is or was more of a chillout place than Sharm although it seems as Sharm has the better dive spots? Is it worth staying a couple of days in Sharm to enjoy the diving in Ras M with Thistlegorm etc and then proceed to Dahab and do further exursions from there?

I live in Southern California and I have a week+ off in late December, and I would like to go somewhere in the North or Central American areas for some inexpensive live-aboard diving; and by inexpensive I just mean that I don't need some luxury boat, just a quality company and quality diving.

The best option I came across was Blackbeards Liveaboard in the Bahamas but my dates don't line up with their schedule so I have to look elsewhere.

I know there's some great diving in the…

Hi there.
Me and a bunch of friends would like to take a short trip to Thailand in January to learn scuba diving and touring Pattaya and possible Phuket on the way. I would like to know the best place to do a short 2-3 day scuba diving course in Thailand just for the experience. I have absolutely no knowledge of the same and request you guys to help me plan my trip. Looking forward to getting some good info from you all. Thanks in advance

Hello TTers,

Looking for some spectacular diving this New Years - undecided between Thailands Similan Islands or the Phillipines Tubbataha marine reserve - both liveaboard options. I spent last year in Borneo diving Sipadan, and well - I am looking for something just as fab.

For the 'winter' season, what would reap the best rewards?

Any recommendations for an operator?

Note: don't like the luxury package - can afford a mid-range, but open to budget. Want to be around a fun - but serious -…

Hey !

If you are going to Zanzibar and are planing to do some diving, or maybe to learn it, I would like to give you a few tips on the way.

I have worked as Padi Instrutor for many years on Zanzibar, and has lived there since 2002.

The diving on Zanzibar can be in world class on a good day, and some of the reefs is even to the very experienced diver something to remember.

With out doubt the best reefs are reached from Kendwa or Nungwi on the north tip of Zanzibar.
I have made a small list of…

Can anyone recommend some "can't miss" dives in Fiji. Or direct me to an online guide to diving in Fiji.

I am an AOW diver with moderate (40+ dives) experience. I have dove in Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Hondruras, and Nicaragua. How does Fiji compare? From what I have heard I have high expectations.

I understand much of the diving in Fiji is resort based and therefore on the expensive side. Any thoughts on this? I'd rather not break the bank if possible.

Thank you

Hi fellow travellers,

I'm planning to take a padi certificate next year - maybe in Egypt because I read you can get accommodation and lessons for a week about 300 €/pers.

I'm a good swimmer and I snorkell sometimes. But I never do any diving. For those of you who take a Padi certificate while vacationing, how easy is it? And what is the pourcentage of success of your fellows? I must admit that I'm not good swimming with fins. Or shall I take lessons at home first and just go to vacation and…
