Might be a somewhat random question but, basically how much do Diving instructors make in Asia?

Hi There,

It would depend on where you were working, but mostly you would be doing it for the love of the lifestyle not to get rich.

I'm open water now but have over 150 dives and have dived in some serious current.
I would pay to get up to Instructor and can afford to do this.
Are you scraping a living whilst being an instructor in Asia?

That's more or less the nail on the head.

What level are you at right now? That may make a diffrenence in price for all the courses you will need to attend before getting up to instructor level.

In general instructors make enough to live, and if they're lucky and have a good year they can even occasionally replace their old and worn out equipment.

On Koh Tao you will earn around 1700-200B per Open Water student - 1500-1800B for an Advanced Student - 500B for a EANx course - 100B per tank for a fun diver.

I took a Dive Masters course in the Bay Islands because it gave me unlimited dives. The thing I remember most is that it wouldn't be worth it to work as one and in many places you'll be an working as an illegal. As the others have stated, most of those working as Dive masters and instructors do it to support their diving passions as the travel the world, but they don't make enough to save.
