Hi Folks

I'm heading up towards Ecuador for my Galapagos cruise that starts on Sep 14th. I now have a few extra days before getting on the boat and was thinking of doing a few day dives.
The olympus 1030sw camera I brought is excellent for snorkling to depths of 10m, but am thinking of maybe getting the Olympus PT-043 underwater housing for the diving (for depths to 40m).

Tho I think I'm gonna have next to no chance of finding a shop that will sell or stock this item enroute. I'll be heading up thru Bolivia, Peru, and into Guayaquil & Quito before going to the islands - I don't suppose anybody here knows of a place to try and buy this from?

cheers
Rob

Certainly not in Bolivia... their scuba diving industry is less developed.

In Lima/Peru, there aere several professional photo shops at the intersection of Av Larco / Av Bendavides. You can also try at Jockey Plaza, the largest upscale shopping mall.

In Quito, there are shopping malls as well, or you could go to the city's first dive shop called Explorama, which may know where to buy underwater equipment.

There is a store in Japan that will ship internationally. http://www.uwdigitalcamera.com

Some of the big US retailers ship internationally, too. B&H is my favorite.

just a correction, the dive shop in Quito is called "Exploramar" with an "r" at the end.
It's a rather odd place to run a diveshop, I guess they cater to the wealthy locals or expats who want to take lessons in a swimming pool after work or on weekends...

Thanks Zebra. I had initially thought of ordering with delivery to my travel agency in Quito, but I think international orders usually require delivery to the card holders home address (Australia for me) which won't help my current situation.
