So, I am going on a Big Trip (also my honeymoon) next summer in July/August and as well as a bit of safari and beach time I'd like to do some good diving. My other half is not a diver and although he doesn't mind me disappearing off to dive (and sometimes comes with on the boat) I need somewhere with good diving but also good beaches.

We are currently looking at three options for the beach/diving bit of the trip - any views on these or good alternatives very welcome!

(1) Pemba (Zanzibar not Mozambique) - based in SW of island. I have heard mixed reviews of diving here including (a) it's fantastic and has lots of big fish and (b) the currents are very strong and there aren't any big fish!

(2) Mafia, Tanzania - Chole Bay. Supposedly to be amazing diving but haven't heard good reports about the beaches (or lack of, rather), and don't want a sulky husband!

(3) Vamizi, Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique. Looks amazing but bloody expensive, so would have to be. Haven't heard too much about the diving there.

Thanks v much!

There are a lot of options for diving in Mozambique, I believe the diving there will be more 'pristine' than in Tanzania (I stand to be corrected). The coastline is over 2000km long and there are diving options as well as accomodation options to sort all pockets, from exceptional luxury to basic camping and all in between. I would choose Mozambique personally.
