Scuba gear in hurghada?

Hello,

We have booked a liveaboard from hurghada for the 27th of this month. Problem is that the price of the gear hire is crazy! They are looking at 30 euros per day per person plus we need flashlights and dive computers!
This may be normal as this is our first liveabord so we dont know any better!?

Question is will I get a better rate once i get to Hurghada? Am i better off buying some gear there to offset the price? Has anyone bought gear there? Are the prices fair? (not expecting a bargain from a resort town!)

Any info would be great appreciated!

Check out your local phone book and go to your nearest dive shop. Buy your gear locally keeping in mind that you want gear appropriate to your destination. The professionals at your local dive shop will be of great help to you.

Did you book through a travel agent? if so, check the rates directly with the operator, because those quotes are really high.

I booked directly with Emperor divers who seem like a good outfit but could not believe the prices they are charging! Can anyone recommend anyone in Hurghada?
