Negril Jamaica beach diving?

Hi There,
We're going to Jamaica for 3 weeks and I'm wondering if there's any good beach diving near Negril (or elsewhere). Is it worth it to lug our gear all the way there? We usually travel very light, and rent gear to do a few dives. However, if there is some decent beach diving there, we'll lug our gear with us and rent some tanks so we can do some very inexpensive diving.
Any help of suggestions on this matter will be very helpful!

hey Jimmy,
lots of sand and possibly boat traffic there! maybe better by the cliffs off west end.you might want to stick to a dive shop for boat diving. the kool sites like deep plane, shallow plane, and throne room are accesible by a ten minute boat ride. good luck!
