Hi everybody!

I am looking into my next adventure, as I will have approximately two to two and a half months of summer holiday starting mid-June. I was thinking of doing Mozambique as I have heard it's great place for scuba diving..but.. Is it the right time a year to go? What is water temperatures, visibility etc. like? Whereabout in Mozambique would you recommend and are there any reasonably priced options? (I'm on a budget).. I was thinking of maybe combining Mozambique with some backpacking around Zimbabwe or Namibia, or maybe a few more dives off the coast of South Africa.

Do you have any other recommedations as to where to go to during those months? I did Malaysia and Indonesia this summer (Perhentians, Mabul, Sipadan, Nusa Tenggara and Komodo National Park), and enjoyed myself A LOT. I was thinking of doing the Philippines, but I've heard that it isn't the right time a year to go.. Any recommedation is much appreciated:)

Best regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The Great Barrier Reef has excellent diving in July/August - the minke whales should be about.

Have a look at our video Diving on the Ribbon Reefs..

Lots to see on land out of Cairns too.

Happy planning.

Hi Daniel,

You'll be fine in Mozambique in june - august. Mantas, reef sharks and whalesharks for sure, whales (best in august) and dolphins if you're lucky.

Go to Tofo Beach near Inhambane in south Mozambique and dive with Tofo Scuba. Good operation and good staff.

But...if you have the time and money, why not start in South Africa and try to catch the sardine run as you make your way north? If in doubt, watch the BBC documentary on the Sardine Run :-)

Last, alternatives.....The red sea is hot in the summer, but absolutely world-class amazing underwater !!!

:-)

Enjoy your trip (and the planning),
