Hello all,

My husband and I will be spending a few months in Thailand. We arrive in late November and are itching to get back under water but don't have a lot of time at the beginning of our trip to dive. Our plan is to hit Koh Tao for a quick 10 dives or so and then head up north due to obligations, then we will head to the Andaman coast for a month. Maybe it's a long shot, but are there any dive shops on Koh Tao that have great fun diving for experienced divers? I have my advanced cert and my husband is a certified instructor. This spring we dove on Utila in Honduras with Gunter's Ecomarine and are interested in a similar vibe--laid- back, friendly and casual. We tend to shy away from the huge party dive shops.

Thanks for your help!
Happy diving!

If you really have to go to Koh Tao :), check out Master Divers.

Hi there Happiest Lamb !

November is actually monsoon time here and we are closed - we open again on the 1st Dec - by which time the worst of the weather has usually passed. Not sure how late in November you were thinking of coming .....

Feel free to mail me !

Ayesha

Good to know! Thank you, Ayesha. Maybe the Andaman Coast is first.

Based on my own experience, the diving on the Andaman coast is better this time of year in terms of climate, and far better for experienced divers than Ko Tao. Try heading to the Similan Islands on a liveaboard, otherwise the diving from Ko Lanta is nice - especially to Hin Daeng/Muang and Ko Ha.

Thanks! We have plans to do a Similan Islands liveaboard. We just have that free week to sneak in some diving before we need to do things inland. It looks like it's worth it to go to the Andaman coast. Any recommendations for shops on Koh Phi Phi or Koh Lanta? Master Divers on Koh Tao looked pretty much perfect.

Lanta Diver on Ko Lanta was pretty well organised. Sorry, can't remember for Ko Tao.

For Lanta I like Scubafish. On Phi Phi one of my former students works at Island Divers, and I could put you in touch with him. Or I also like Phi Phi Adventure.

If you do head to the Similans for a liveaboard - consider booking now. Normally I'd say to not stress too much, but most of our trips are full already!
