I am planning a trip te Australia in November and I am wondering what the diving is like at that time of year? Temp? Visability? I am thinking of doing a live aboard an I would like to know of any good locations to try or of any good operators?

November is allegedly one of the best times to visit.
I have just got back from a Liveaboard trip to the outer reefs. Very good diving, and worth the efffort.
A lot depends on what you want. If you want good quality diving and plenty of it I would recommend a liveaboard. I went with Mike Ball.com a good package and a bit pricier than the others but we found it excellent.
Other operators are Taka and explorerventures.com. For these they offer a 3, 4 or 7 day package. We found that if you cabinshare (up to 4) you can substantially reduce costs.
They've all got good websites, but be aware standby deals can be hard to get, so you may need to book early-ish. Great diving, but the seas were quite rough, be aware that the ambitious coral sea (Osprey reefs) were getting cancelled when we were there by all operators though the skipper reckoned it would die by Sep/Oct so prepare for a flexible programme.
PM me if you want more details

I learnt how to diving in the great barrier reef in the month of november... going back a few years. I have a few Ozzie friends that go diving out there a lot. The conditions in November are generally great. The temp is good but you still wear a shorty wetsuit and visability is generally around the 15-20m sometimes more. I wouldn't have recommending diving in that area during the Ozzie spring/summer seasons as Oz had freak weather storms, especially up in Queenlands. You will love diving in the Great Barrier Reef, it's one of my favourite places so far!
