Galapagos Diving

Interest forums / Diving & Snorkelling

Looking for information regarding diving in the Galapagos, in particular alternatives to expensive live-aboards and a way to combine diving with (land) wildlife viewing.
Cheers

You've got a few options:
1. A dedicated diving live-aboard
2. A live-aboard for divers that does include a few on shore wildlife viewing excursions
3. A wildlife viewing live-aboard that will only include snorkeling, after which you can take daily diving excursions from the main town of Puerto Ayora.
I did #3: a 5 day live-aboard to see the island's wildlife which included snorkeling with sharks, penguins, sea lions, etc. After returning from the cruise, I stayed for 3 more days in Puerto Ayora and took daily dives with speedboat. This option won't get you to the best diving spots (Darwin and Wolf far north) but that was the limit of my budget and I still had a blast.

Hi,

Last year I was diving with Scuba Galapagos and their boat the Eclipse... a red nice yacht with everything on board! You don't even have to go to the diving centre ... The only problem they have is... you have to wait til they have the minimum people (5) for start operations and believe me ! it's worth..

Enjoy your Galapagos diving

By the way, our cruise was just a land-cruise. We were satisfied with 2 days of diving in Puerto Ayora (4 total dives) - and we had spent our diving budget by that time:) The snorkeling is awesome in the Galapagos, too.
