Diving the Yucatan!

Dear All,

Can anyone recommend a reputable center to take the PADI Open Water on the Yucatan Peninsula? Never dived before or been to the area. All advise greatfully received

Hi, If you are in Tulum I would reccomend Maya Diving. Tim the owner and all the staff are great. They have reef on Cenote diving. One of the best things is that it is just a short ride out to the reef.

If on Isla Mujeres there are only 2 PADI certifed shops. One is Coral Dive Center on Matamoros near the North Beach. I believe there is not a better shop on the island. The others all have PADI banners but beware of imposters. Not all dive shops are equal on the island. Coral's saftey record is solid, as are their boats and gear.

In Playa del Carmen, I have nothing but good things to say about Go Cenotes

I've been to Tulum and dove there quite a bit. I also would recommend Maya Diving in Tulum. Excellent operator. Once you get certified, check out the cenotes if you get the chance. Awesome dives.
I have been diving quite a few times in Playa del Carmen too and would recommend Tankah Divers there. Good shop too.
In Puerto Aventuras I would go with Aquanauts. Dove with them too.
In Cancun I wouldn't know since I don't like it there much.
Where are you planning on staying? Because that would obviously affect who to take your course with quite a bit.
If you want to venture further south to lonely Xcalak, the diving is REALLY good there and I would recommend my friends at XTC dive center, mmm dove there too.
Guess I kinda like Mexico..... and diving too
