Hi Guys,

I arrive into Cairns on Thursday morning and was wondering if anyone knows the best way to be able to dive the Code Hole. Should I go through a dive operation in Cairns or make my own way up to Cooktown? Also, I will be travelling down the coast a plan to dive the Yongala wreck, does anyone have any other dive sites in the area to recomend. I have dived out on the great Barrier Reef before.

Cheers,

JMF.

You will need to book in Cairns, as all trips are organised through dive companies as there is a control on number of boats at the site and GBR fees to pay. It isn't high season so if you go around the dive shops when you get to Cairns, you should be able to get a good price for a last minute spot. The Ribbon Reefs are always spectacular, as is a trip out to Osprey Reef, but many boats don't do Cod Hole and Osprey on the same trip.
Mike Ball has stopped doing the Yongala, so you will need to organise your dive as a day trip with the operators out of Townsville.
