Hey Travelerz!

I will hopefully be doing some diving overseas next year, (to earn my padi advanced open water and rescue certs), and will most likely buy some new equipment out there somewhere, after my courses are completed. So I have been trying to do some research to learn more about what diving equipment is out there, and what is what before i go, (particularly with regard to dive computers), and i was wondering if anyone knew of some good websites to learn more about the specific technical aspects of equipment and brand comparisons?

And was also wondering what area of the world tends to have the lowest prices on dive equipment in general. I had heard that Bangkok was a great place to get good prices on just about anything, but have heard views to the contrary with regard to diving equipment more recently. And i have also heard that perhaps Singapore is the least expensive place to purchase nowadays, and with the greatest variety too. Can someone recommend some websites of specific retailers? What about Hong Kong?

I know that I will learn much more about this stuff once I am in the classroom environment again, but I am not too sure where I will be, or when, so the more I know before I go, the more I will most likely score a good deal with what I will really need.

(BTW, i'm currently considering spending around 30 days or so in the Red Sea area and/or perhaps Bali sometime around May and/or June of next year).

Danka Gracias,
t.

thanks gg.

it seems as though there are a lot of stores like that in that area/on that road - that's good info to know.

though the sports center website did not have any prices listed, so i guess it is hard to say just how cheap the prices are as compared to other places in the world, like hong kong? and specific product information on the website was limited.

i'ma still looking for a good website to learn about the products and brand comparisions. :)
