Diving around Nosy Be, Madagascar | Diving & Snorkelling - Lonely Planet Forum

I'm planning a honeymoon in Madagascar and want to do some diving, probably around Nosy Be. 2 amazing places look like Nosy Komba and Nosy Mitsio. Just wondering if anyone has experience of these or both to see if there's much difference in the diving. We're looking at late Oct or November for being there which I hear is whale & whale shark season. Don't know what the probabilities of seeing them are though.

We're experienced divers who've been all over the world if that makes any difference to recommendations.

Any thoughts, recommendations appreciated.

I only can give you information of 1993 when I travelled Mada for 7 month and actually stayed 4 of it in Nosy Komba and surrounding islands. At this time getting dive gear wasn't easy, a few dive center in the big hotels in Nosy Be or a pretty small and nice base (with Bungalows) on Nosy Sakatia (at this time it was run by Swissfrench)
The reefs and marine life were great and the viz usually not very good. We have seen some whales but not while diving..

But its a great place with great people! I think you could enjoy it

Now wondering whether to base ourselves out of Nosy Komba and do the diving available from there (see these useful links)

to go to Tsara Bajina and do the diving there?

Any comments if the diving up in the northern islands (Bajina) is significantly better than around Komba/Be?
