Can you recommend a liveaboard for the Red Sea?

Interest forums / Diving & Snorkelling

Hi there,

I'm looking to do a 4/5 day liveaboard in Egypt in May. I guess I have 3 main questions:

 1. Can anyone recommend a good company for liveaboards? Both in terms of price and quality? (I'm just back from Thailand and diving centres thought some companies were great and others were sh*t!)

 2. Which top dives sites should it absolutely include?

 3. Are there websites that offer inclusive holidays, e.g. flights, hotel and liveaboard? I can seem to find any when I look.

Cheers for any info, have my PADI and advanced SSI, am pretty new to diving but a total addict! I'm actually planning to move to Asia so I can do it all the time.... Any other advice that I haven't thought of would be great if I've missed something.

Thanks again

 1. I think it depends where you're based. For the UK, you can check out: [http://www.divernet.com/cgi-bin/articles.pl?section=2254&sn=2254:TravelOperator+QuickLinks]

http://www.divernet.com (see "Travel Operator quick links" - lower right)

If the links aren't working, just google the companies.

I know Oona's divers offers packages, but as I live in France, I always go through the French TOs which always seem to offer only all-inclusive (usually works out cheaper, but I sometimes like more flexibility). My being based in France also doesn't allow me to answer your question 1 as the all-inclusives seem to organise by nationality and language, so it seems to me that there are different boats and companies for the French TOs. Note: most all-inclusives will propose 1 or 2 weeks (includes travel days and non-diving time).

 1. Depends on your experience. Even though you are advanced, for instance, I believe that the Brothers and BDE cruises require at least 50 dives. Otherwise, I would recommend these itineraries or St. John's in the south. Then there's the north if you're into wrecks.

In any case, I think you'll love a Red Sea Liveaboard.
