I'm going to Ko Tao end of Jan 2012 and I was wondering how the water conditions are like at that time. I've read that it's the tail end of the monsoon and that even if it doesn't rain much, the water isn't very clear. I'll be there anyway, but your comment on that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

The wet season is May to October, so it should have calmed down by Jan. I was there in Jan a few years ago and I don't remember the viz being particularly bad.

May to October is wet season on the Andaman Coast, not Koh Tao. Also on the Andaman Coast the wet season has hardly any effect on the visibility.

On Koh Tao, end of January should be starting to get better, and things should be getting better the longer you stay.
