Friend and I are looking at booking a holiday to do some diving and partying around October time.
First thoughts are for Thailand but have done this a few times now. Have done Egyot and Oz also, where else do people reccomend? Anywhere a bit different would be even more appealing!

Hi there Chris. i see that you and your friend are looking at coming to thailand for a holiday. I work in Thailand (phuket) and i have lived here for 5 years now teaching scuba diving. Any where in thailand is good for diving and at this time of year there is a chance of seeing all sorts of stuff underwater. Also there are many attractions on land for partying or sight seeing it just depends what your after. If you want any information then give me an e mail, good luck tony.
Since you'd like to try someplace other than Thailand, but still want to stay in Asia, you might consider Bali. The diving is good in October. I don't know much about the partying aspects there, because the main 'party town' of Kuta is on the side of the island that is better for surfing (west) whereas the best diving is in the north and east, as well as the neighboring islands like Penida and Lembongan. THe Florida Keys is the perfect place for diving during the day and partying into the night. Islamorada, Florida is an exceptional place to visit with many different resorts and dive shops to choose from. Great nightlife too.

Following on from Quero, maybe fly out to Bali, then head to the Gili Islands off of Lombok, which is a ferry ride away. Gili Trewangan {sp?} has a chilled back packer party vibe and there's some nice diving. I spent a couple of weeks there in October 06 and I reckon it may well fit the bill. Also, whilst in Bali dive the Liberty, great wreck dive.
