My wife has learned the seas can be rough and the waters less clear for snorkeling during the wet season at these islands. I'm fairly certain we can find some fairly clear and calm protected waters in the wet season. Can anyone who's been there in the wet season let me know how good or bad it may be at this time of the year?

It can be really bad. Or not bad at all. Seen it both, but you will have to take your chances... Will be travelling in the area from March and all of April, it is normally pretty ok then. But weather has been really unpredictable lately, and you can never be sure...

Thanks Trine. I think your assessment is pretty much what I thought. I want to be able to reassure my wife that we'll have a reasonable chance of having some nice weather.

I had wanted to take the Perama cruise from Lombok to Flores but they don't even run the cruises through February. Now I'm hoping we'll catch some decent weather and hire a boat from Labuanbajo to go to Komodo and Rinca. If the weather doesn't cooperate we'll just do other things.

Have a good trip.
