LSD turns 64 today. It had actually been synthesized years earlier by Albert Hofmann, but he didn't actually ingest it until April 19, 1943.

Hofmann, who calls LSD "medicine for the soul", is 101 and going strong. According to Wikipedia, he spoke at the World Psychedelic Forum just last month.

How often do you watch television and how long for each day? And just why do you watch it? Commonly known over here in OZ as the "idiot box", surely the amount of time children of today spend watching it can not be good for them. There was a time when it would have been half an hour after school or possibly one hour if it was a Friday night.

Dad would come home from work and the oldies would sit and watch the "News" and find out what had been happening in their part of the world that day. Who…

Hello!

I'm a journalist researching a story about literary travel and wondered if any of you lovely and well read people could help me.

Have you ever done a literary trail in a country you've visited? eg Hemingway's Cuba, Kerouac's America, the Mark Twain Trail?

And what books make you want to travel?

Thanks so much for your help!

Laura

Hi... I remember as a child my grandfather telling me about his days in the army in what was then British India. His job was a military photographer and as such was posted on the front line to snap pics of Japanese positions within Burma. He was also a keen anthropologist and naturalist who also liked to photograph tribespeople when he happened upon a village. He has long since passed away, but recently I found his old leather-bound album of photographs from this time - all dated and titled. And…

The day Chris Martin listen to a Radiohead album was the day music died.

It's from a reader who talked about Coldplay's upcoming album. Do you think he or she meant they (Coldplay and Radiohead) are equally bad? Or am I missing something?

Have you ever wondered what the lives of those on the "Silver Screen" would have been like had they acted under a different name? Or used the name they'd been born with?
Take Cary Grant - debonair ladies man, how different would his acting career have been if he'd acted under his own name- Archibald Alexander Leach. Doesn't quite have the same cache as Cary Grant does it?
Or John Wayne- big, strong and rugged - real name Marion Robert Morrison. Could you imagine a cowboy called Marion?
Or Marilyn…
