Your nose

Picking your nose in public is offensive here in Canada. The only place I know of where picking your nose and pulling farmers was socialy acceptable behaviour was China back in the day when I was there (1985 & 1990) but things change...

Not as much picking your nose (although that too), as mostly clearing your throat and spitting. That seems to be acceptable in China, not less than scratching your head.

I once caused major consternation by blowing my nose (with a tissue) while sat at a mess hall table in a Egyptian rig camp.

I was told it was as shocking as if I'd got up and taken a dump on the table.

Thanks for all replies, not least n_rb's! I shall continue not to pick my nose in public for fear of offending - but I'll still scratch my balls in, er, pubic areas.
