Oh, loads.

From Kurosawa - I love 7 Samurai, Dodeskaden, Ran.
Kitano - Sonatine.
After Life is one of my absolute favourites (also by Kore-eda, who also directed Nobody Knows, if I remember correctly)
Anime.... I think I'll have to stick to Miyazaki - Mononokehime, and Hotaru no haka.

Didn't like Shara, much too slow for me. Her latest movie got quite good reviews though, I seem to remember.

Oh, and Zebraman! Brilliant film :)

Edited by: machiruda because I forgot one.

Too many to list -- but I really like modern Japanese films and not the costume dramas.

One small film that remains stuck in my mind is A Scene at the Sea. I also loved The Eel.

Machiruda,

My son loves Zebraman.

Zebra Kick!

He also loves Miike's The Great Yokai War and I forget the director, but it's The Girl who Leapt Through Time.

# 16 Shower is Chinese, but very good indeed.

My favorite Japanese movie is Dolls by Kitano.

One of the best comedies I've ever seen: Gyakufunsha kazoku - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087377/

Plot keywords of IMDB: Family | Termite | Suicide | Demolition

Says it all.

Hmmm, I've heard some many praises for that movie.

Has anyone here heard of the anime series, Monster?
