Worst film ever....

Interest forums / Culture Vultures

...of the high budget films...

A.I.

It could have been such a good film!

Even worse than I remembered. I mean the ending beyond the "blue lady" is just shocking. It's worse than anything I've ever seen & even worse than I remembered (which was not good to start with). Truly dreadful.

So bad that the film geek in me gets angry watching that dreadful shite. WTF were they thinking???

I agree. It gets my vote as the worst movie ever, too. Good premise but completely ruined by Spielberg and his sappy fixation with cutesiness involving children. I don't think anyone can deny that the ending of the movie was absolutely ridiculous.

1

I loved it.

Cheers,
Terry

2

Just kidding. (Barf.)

I think there's worse examples though. Too many to list, but sticking just with science fiction, Independence Day, Mission to Mars, Matrix Reloaded, The Island of Dr. Moreau, Batman and Robin, Deep Blue Sea, Armageddon... to name just a few...

Cheers,
Terry

I saw ''Heavens Gate'' in a theater. yuck. Famous as being one of the most expensive flops ever. The 'Exorcist 2' was terrible.

4

Some of the remakes:
The Italian Job
Get Carter

Spring to mind. They really don't need to be re-made

5

Couldn't agree more Ria. I've never sat in a cinema feeling more like my intelligence was being insulted (and I've seen all three Scary Movies)

6

The worst I've seen is Alexander
www.imdb.com/title/tt0346491/

Superman Returns was also bad

some of the worst reviews I've read were for I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and the recent Paris Hilton movie The Hottie and the Nottie

7

For me it's a close finish between Waterworld and Independence Day.

8

What about that ridiculous movie about global warming melting the ice caps and freezing, where else of course, but the ole US of A. It was called the Day after tomorrow or something. What got me was, everything and everywhere, including the buildings were frozen solid, but they still managed to get a fire going in a library or somewhere. Just so typical American disaster movie drivel. Sad.

9

OP, yes, AI was a piece of crap.

#3 Matrix Reloaded? It is a good film soley on the special effects IMHO. It appeals to my short attention span. Plus, that chick in the tight leather looks great (Carrie Anne Fisher, I think).

#9, Yes, the Day After Tomorrow was quite ridiculous.

I nominate Snakes on a Plane. Everything about it was horrible- premise, plot, dialogue, special effects, acting, etc. Just a horrible movie. Even the ending was bad.

What about Howard the Duck? Back in the day, I saw most of it in a theater. I say most, as I walked out of it. Yes, it was that bad.

10

Vertical Limit. Unbearable.

11

#10, you're thinking of Carrie Anne Moss.

12

The Matrix Reloaded wasn't too bad. The Matrix Revolutions was awful

13

It should be noted that both Independence Day and the Day After Tomorrow are Roland Emmerich films. He's German. He also did The Patriot, another crappy movie that's supposed to stir up American patriotism. That new prehistoric movie is his, too.

But A.I. is still much worse than his movies.

Now that I think of it, M. Night Shaylaman's (sp?) movie "Signals" is right up there, too. Mel Gibson fights off aliens by rediscovering his faith in god. What a complete piece of crap.

14

I think you mean "Signs" - imo although crap it did have some really good creepy bits but sadly they were just lost in the rubbish & ruined by showing the alien. However "Unbreakable" was vasly vastly worse...

15

You know when you forget the name its bad...

16

Ah they weren't that bad. Either of them. They certainly don't belong on a thread with A.I.
