Shiv was ethereal, a sensual experience as much as a musical one. Dreamlike. Ali Farka Toure was best the first of the several times that we caught him. Not so sure his live act aged well. In Mali before his death, a local musician from our city tried to jam with him. Understand, our 'local' player has like 30 albums to his name. He's a pro (Bruce Cockburn). But seems Toure turned up his own guitar real loud to deliberately drown out our boy onstage.....

I am done. The end.

The Who, Manchester Evening News Arena, 2000 (I usually hate stadium shows but this was a religious experience!)

Graham Day & the Gaolers, Primitive Festival, Rotterdam, this year
The Woggles, Primitive Festival, Rotterdam, this year

The last two bands share the same rhythm section which may have something to do with it...

Chris Isaak, U2 and Dire Straits were all worth the money. AC/DC were also very good. Disappointed with David Bowie. Jackson Browne put on a great gig, as did KISS.
