hellfoxxx...

not the case. just a matter of taste. I have known suf for many years and love it when he did his stripped down, banjo-voice concerts, I have seen him play many times and don' t like the huge productions.. I think his voice and atmosphere gets lost in it all.

Primal scream I have seen on a huge stage and small. much better on the small which shouldnt be too hard ot understand, more intimate, better sound, more connection with the people.

Portishead were already famous in 1999, as were the Afghan Whigs and Beck. Speaking of Beck..have seen him 5 times and manages to get progressively worse..whcih is why the first show was the best and it was actually on a big stage but packed with energy.

Out of 14 listed only 2 said small or private gig so thats obviously not the clincher.

Have seen Wilco a couple of times too and don't know what all the fuss is about.

I'd have to agree that the Afghan Whigs were pretty impressive

Grand so Truckstop, happy to get your clarifiation on that. For a second you sounded like just another boring stuck up muso male, a character thats familiar to me and I would imagine you too.

Tom Petty (with a great guest appearance by Stevie Nicks)
Ozomatli- fantastic shows with crazy energy
Violent Femmes, back in the 90's, although they are still good now

Some of the best live performances I've seen were by acts that I never had much time for - Meat Loaf and Genesis for example.

Chris Isaak live was brilliant but David Bowie at the T&C in Leeds in front of a few hundred people had to be my all time favourite. And The Kinks.

Nobody I've ever seen did live with as much passion as the Clash. RIP Joe, I still miss ya!
