Which songs take you somewhere else when you hear them?

The playing of my music last week took me to my front door: my neighbour's new partner did not appreciate it.

The Europe song "The Final Countdown" reminds me of a crappy pub I was in near Canberra when I was 13. Some jackass put it on the jukebox four times in a row. For years thereafter I thought of Australians generally as bad-hair-band-listening freaks. ACDC didn't help that impression either.

Intentional efforts to associate a song with a moment or a place usually fall flat for me, so I don't collect them really.

Well okay, I do, but many of them are extremely personal, and none of your business.

I get taken back by genre, not songs so much - different times in my life have different soundtracks that move me in different ways but Aimee seems to be a constant by itself

Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark always takes me back to the beach of Koh Phangan. It was 1987 and before the full moon parties the island became so (in)famous for. Although we did have one at that time. Mmmmm, good memories!
