What gave it away elle? There weren't many locals at all in the crowd at Tim Freedman's gig!

I did manage to behave on Tuesday though - thought I'd better show a bit of respect being in an old church......

A Nonny Mouse. No-one used to go to Australia, except perhaps Sydney, so the locals started some very good covers bands, who used to tour. Perhaps India needs the same thing?

The White Stripes. I ended up having to buy a scalper ticket. The regular tickets sold out in two hours. I don't even want to mention how much I paid. ZZ top is coming. Jethro Tull. I just saw Hot Tuna. Absolutely loved seeing George Thorogood. Can't wait to see him again. Saw Kan'Nal four times in one month. Can't wait to see them again. That's it. I wish I had easier access to shows. Maybe I can catch a festival or two before the summer ends. There's a good one in Vegas around Halloween.

I'd like to hit Voodoo Fest in New Orleans come October but I'm not into big crowds and I'm sure the grounds will be crawling with underage kids. Anyway, Voodoo Experience, as its called these days, is divided into three segments:

Le Ritual, which showcases Kings of Leon, Wilco, Tiesto (sans DJ), Common, Ben Harper, Rage, the reincarnated Pumpkins, Black Crowes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Skinhead O'Connor, along with new fodder like Plain White T's, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Red Jumpsuit... Local representations include Galactic (wow, that's a surprise) and Mute Math.

Le Flambeau is more locally represented with Dr. John (another surprise), Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Marc Broussard, Henry Butler, and the usual brass band bullshit. Also look for Zap Mama and Toots.

Le Carnival is also local-centric and with more proof that people are running out of names for bands (Tap Water Mind Control, Worms Union, Ratty Scurvics Singularity, Heavenly Trip to Hell, My Graveyard Jaw, Why are we building such a big ship?, The White Bitch's Prey Drive (??)
You may want to check out the familiar Dax Riggs (of the former Deadboy and the Elephantmen) Liquidrone, Quintron, and Morning 40 Federation, at least.

I just saw Lucinda Williams just over a week ago and she was SO SO SO SO excellent. So excellent. So. Excellent.

We also had an aborted Morrissey show last month - he came out, did 5 songs then some poor road crew flunky had to come out and announce he had lost his voice and the show was over. They rescheduled the show for when I was out of town so I missed it. Oh the misery. Well, I got my money back so technically I guess I saw 5 Morrissey songs for free. Can't beat that.

The Hoodoo Gurus just announced a show here. I just can't resist that.

The Noisettes are coming too and I am curious to see them.
