webstrella, just nitpicking, but if we have to exclude all tales the Grimms took from Perrault, this will sadly cover Red Riding Hood, too (just as Puss in Boots, Mother Hulda, Petit Poucet (kerouac), Sleeping Beauty and Snow White)... yet as far as I know, the Grimms never considered 'their' tales but a collection, so obviously they're not the authors

I think there were several movie adaptations...

Cinderella was is not included in the Grimm collection. I have the Grimm collection. It's not there. But I'll let it go.

Cinderella not in your Grimm collection? You do know that it got a German title ('Aschenputtel'; Asche+ = +cinders ), though? It should be #21 in your book. Sorry for being such a pest ;-)

Wikipedia says that both Charles Perrault and Grimm have written versions of Cinderella based on an older widespread folktale. However, it says, the Perrault version is the currently well-known version. In the Grimm version, for example, the "help comes not from a fairy-godmother but the wishing tree that grows on her mother's grave." That's not Cinderella as most of us know it.
