Critics claimed it was too much like a soap opera.

So what's wrong with a movie with some drama?

I thought the positions the two girls (and the rest of the family) found themselves in were interesting-- becoming tragic and compelling by the end--, and the suffering each portrayed at different moments was well done.

Another argument is that it was too fictionalized, but I don't know enough of the details behind that to judge it much on that account. But if it's known to be a fictionalized account, how can one complain?

What do you think-- is it worth the "40% fresh" rating on rottentomatoes.com, or are the critics just being snooty this time?

100% chick flick, costumes, cleavage, tears, nice boys, mean men,the press of duty, stiff upper lips, heroines riding into the sunset.......

I have to admit-- some of the flashy costumes were fun to look at, but did seem really, well, costume-y. Especially those headbands; they looked like something a mom made for her daughter's school play with a glue gun and plastic baubles.

Someone recommended this film to me last week. After reading #1
100% chick flick, that is one film I definitely will not be watching. Do film makers thing women actually get a kick out of that type of low-grade, low-IQ babble rubbish?
Chick-flicks of any kind get the flick from me.

There's no problem that can't be ignored if we really put our minds to it.

Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, but how can you bash in so much detail if you haven't given it a go?
