Not that Iron Maiden is at the height of their career but I was surprised to find out that for the last 9 years Bruce Dickinson have been working for a British charter airline. Whilst being a pilot might being considered a cooler job than most - it's still a job. I guess I just thought that once famous (especially if they still are touring) they'd have enough money to not have to work...

Any other examples like this one out there?

In a completely random but flukey co-incidence, I've just met Iron Maiden's tour manager!

We were chatting about Bruce Dickenson flying part time, and how when Iron Maiden tour they use his plane which has Eddie painted on the tail. It was still used as a charter plane for a while, and most people loved the Iron Maiden design on it. However when Air Ghana were chartering the plane it needed to be painted over as no one would fly on it due to bad ju ju.

Actually, most heavy metal musicians have to hold down "regular" jobs because they sure aren't getting rich from record sales. Call it a labour of love.

I bet he hits some great high notes when he's reminding passengers to put on their seatbelts.

I think if I were insanely rich, I would still work, probably not as much though. It would be so much more relaxing though, because you could be working for fun instead of working for money.

#5, you already have the insane part covered.

I'm a huge fan of early Iron Maiden.

I read a long time ago a quote from Bruce Dickenson's wife. Apparently he absolutely loves to fly and spends too much time with that "metal bitch".

Perhaps I do drewmeister_sd.

I am not suggesting that I would go work at McDonalds, but that I would be able to pursue my interests, without worrying about monetary motivation. Much like Dickenson enjoys flying, I can think of several things that I enjoy that could be 'jobs.' Of course talk is cheap, and I might very well end up on a beach sipping margaritas ;)

I met the guy when I was a promoter. He was managing a singer whose name I forget. Seemed a really sound bloke, very clever. I think he owns the airline, so I guess he works under his own terms. He also owns "Brittania Row", a large PA company.
Nice work, I would think
