Just saw this film. Was reluctant because thought there wasn't much new about Reed. However, gave in because Julian Schnabel filmed it and i thought he was brilliant on Diving Bell & Butterfly and Basquiat. Welllllll ~ if you have a chance to see this film, DO. Lou Reed is brilliant as is his band. He's incredibly moving and gathers a fine band and chorus for the event filmed in 2006 in Brooklyn. Additionally, Antony of The Johnsons appears. As in his performance on the Leonard Cohen film, he proves himself to be magical and marvelous. This played at Film Forum in NYC (last day is 08/05 and i'm told it won't be held over) and the sound was impeccable in part because Lou, himself, set the Dolby for all screenings.

There seems to be a wave of rocker films lately and Patti Smith's is to be released this 08/06. With any luck, both will screen longer than scheduled.

Anyone else see this?
