looking for a US film, help needed

Hi,
this might not be the right place to ask for help.but expect US chaps to know American cinema better than me.
synopsis: the film deal with the way Chinese'security forces treat a foreign a US citizen young woman in parallel with the way US police investigates about an egyptian student (no not the recent one with RW)
I would be glad to find the title of the film again or who directed it in order to get it.
